Interpersonal neurobiology is pointing the way toward a broader, kinder understanding of the roots of trauma and then providing guidance for how we can best support healing – for others and for ourselves. It appears that trauma is much less about what happens to us than about who is truly with us before, during, and after any event. Oren and Bonnie are dedicated to cultivating a safe, warm, nonjudgmental space in which we can develop a deeper understanding through gently exploring our own small and large traumas. Over the years, we have found that this kind of embodied learning, combining didactic and experiential processes, helps to anchor the principles in our bodies so that they are available in our daily lives, personally and professionally. Bonnie Badenoch, PhD, LMFT, is a marriage and family therapist, teacher, and author who is integrating the discoveries of relational neuroscience into the art of therapy. Supporting the developing mental health of fellow therapists while helping them internalize the principles of interpersonal neurobiology brings her particular joy. She is the author of Being a Brain-Wise Therapist (2008) and The Brain-Savvy Therapist’s Workbook (2011).
