A workshop designed for Mental Health Professionals

Mindfulness with the Brain in Mind

Incorporate Mindfulness and Interpersonal Neurobiology into your Practice

Mindfulness practices teach us how to cultivate our non-judgmental awareness, inner wisdom and the ability to be present-here and now. It has the power to tame the mind and free the heart. Mindfulness helps us create a spacious and compassionate holding environment for ourselves and our clients.

Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on ways in which relationships shape and transform the architecture and functioning of the human brain. The research of IPNB tells us that attuned relationships are the single most important variable in healing emotional wounds and that compassion, empathy and nonjudgmental acceptance are the essential ingredients that allow us to be attuned to ourselves and others/clients. These therapeutic relationships promote well being, emotional regulation and ultimately-brain integration.

In this highly informative and innovative Two hours introductory Workshop we will learn, discuss and experience the core principles of mindfulness meditation in conjunction with basic principles of interpersonal neurobiology. This workshop will provide an overview of the following topics:

Establishing a personal discipline of mindfulness meditation to allow you to effectively incorporate it into your practice

  • Regulating difficult emotions that arise out of transference/countertransference
  • Cultivating a compassionate, empathic and authentic presence
  • Exploring ways to release trauma from body and mind.
